Pony Express site to be marked in ceremony

On Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. the Pony Express Trail Association will be dedicating their 63rd Pony Express granite monument. This monument will honor and tell the story of the "Deep Well" Pony Express station site in this area.

Regional Historian Gordy Wilkins will be Master of Ceremonies with guest speakers. Jim Potter, Senior Research Historian for Nebraska State Historical Society will talk about the Pony Express and its historical connection to Nebraska.

There will be a Pony Express ride by Doug Cape, along with other Gurley speakers. It will be followed up by Joe Nardone, now considered the foremost historian on History from 1860-1861 Pony Express.

The Nebraska Department of Roads will accept the monument as a gift.
