Work progressing on Greenwood Rd.

After initial delays, work on Greenwood Rd. is back on schedule.

“We have curb and gutter in place from Highway 30 to Dailey Drive,” Public Services Director John Hehnke told the city council on Tuesday. “We anticipate doing main line paving next week.”

The city has also started working on driveways in that section of road and is preparing for sidewalk installation on the east side of the road.

Sidney hopes to open the section of Greenwood Rd. from Highway 30 to Daily Dr. for residents who live in that area within the next two weeks.

“We are continuing with the installation of the storm drain past the box culvert making our way towards the hospital,” Hehnke said. “We tentatively are hoping within the next month or so to be paving down past through the box culvert and nearing the hospital site.”

The project is slated to be done by mid-November.

“I’d say that we’re on schedule,” Hehnke said. “We had a little bit of issues at the beginning getting materials on site.”

At this time, the city has obtained all necessary materials and the weather has been favorable, so the workers are catching up to the original schedule.
