1945 to 2014

José Campos, 69 of Sidney, passed away at his home Sunday evening, Sept. 7, 2014.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Fri., Sept. 12th in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m. You may view José's Book of Memories, leave condolences, photos and stories at http://www.gehrigstittchapel.com.

Memorial contributions may be made in José's name to SRMC Hospice.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of José's care and funeral arrangements.

José Raymond Campos, Jr., the son of José and Aurora (Ojeda) Campos, was born on Aug. 7, 1945 in North Platte where his father worked for the railroad. The family moved to Scottsbluff in 1958. José attended the Scottsbluff Public Schools and later obtained his G.E.D. in 1971 and an Auto Mechanics Degree in 1974. Throughout the years José received several awards and certificates in a variety of occupational fields and was experienced in welding and farm machinery.

José married Angela Rangel on Aug. 17, 1965 in Sterling. The family has lived in Sidney since 1972. He worked at Safeplay/Tuf-Wear and USAprons as a sewing machine mechanic, a cutting supervisor and in building maintenance. José was the first employee of USAprons, working until his retirement in October 2006.

José enjoyed carpentry, fishing, cooking, playing the guitar and loving his family and friends. He was extremely creative and a 'fix-it' kind of guy.

Survivors include his wife Angela; (2) sons: Jose Campos, Ricardo Campos and wife Dorothea; (6) daughters: Michelle Campos, Yolanda Hruska and husband Joe, Valorie Romick and husband Scott, Elaine Campos and Johnny Langley, Ja'Net Campos and Micah Perry and Francesca Wilkins and husband Sam; (1) brother, (5) sisters, (4) brothers-in-law, (3) sisters-in-law, (27) grandchildren, (10) great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

José was preceded in death by his parents and (1) sister: Angelina Medina.
