Edwin P. Fehringer

1964 to 2014

Ed Fehringer of Colorado Springs died Nov. 2, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born March 23, 1964 in Chappell and graduated from Chappell High School in 1982. He was a good student and played on the football team. In high school, he had an aptitude for science and mathematics, which led him to attend South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, an engineering college in Rapid City, S.D. He graduated in 1986.

His degree in mechanical engineering launched him into a most interesting career where he was involved with pumps and piping. He first worked as an estimator for Northwest Pipe Fittings in Rapid City. After that, he worked for a couple of companies doing engineering and sales work in the Denver area. Next, he worked for Metso, an international mineral processing equipment company, in Colorado Springs, as an applications engineer. His job was to recommend custom-built pumps to be used in the mineral processing and other industries. Finally, he worked for a software company whose software was used to design piping systems in chemical and other processing plants.

In his spare time Ed enjoyed hunting, target shooting, sports and hiking in the mountains.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Fehringer, and is survived by his mother, Kathleen Fehringer, sister Anne Williams (Buzz), brothers Dan (Kathy), Dale (Patty), Ray (Deb), Ralph (Paula), John (Eva), Joe (Susan) and several nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chappell on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 8, also at St. Joseph Church.
