Kruse awarded Grand Champion artist in Wheat Belt cover page contest

Leyton third-grader Jonathan Kruse received Grand Champion honors as part of the Wheat Belt Christmas cover page art contest. Area elementary students were invited to participate.

The Reserve Champion artist was Katherine Eckhardt. First place went to Thomas Jay, and Alexis Juengst took the honorable mention slot. A class party sponsored by Wheat Belt for the winning entries will be scheduled at the teacher’s discretion.

Kruse’s Christmas scene will be displayed as the cover page of the Wheat Belt connection insert of the Rural Electric Nebraskan magazine in December that is delivered to approximately 2,500 Wheat Belt customers throughout five counties. The other three honorees’ work will also be included in the December issue.

Wheat Belt had nearly 150 drawings entered this year.
