Sidney High cast members receive recognition for 'After Hours'

Seven cast members of the Sidney High School Play Production Team were awarded outstanding performer certificates at the Class B-6 District Play Production Contest held at Ogallala High School earlier this month.

Recognized for their acting in Sidney’s production of “After Hours,” a comedy about three mannequins who come to life after a clothing store closes and catch burglars robbing the store were: Samee Kaus, Moselle Yohn, Josh Austad, Mitchel Renkert, Jacob Evertson, Will Castner and Thomas Webb.

“Every year the Class B-6 District is the toughest in the state” said Sidney coach Jack Thorpe. “This year was no different as all eight of the participating schools received superior ratings from the three judges.”

Sidney placed fourth in the competition. Ogallala was the district champion with Gordon-Rushville the runner-up and McCook was third. Behind Sidney in fifth through eighth places were Alliance, Chadron, Valentine, and Mitchell.

Ogallala advanced to the Class B State Play Production Championships in Norfolk.
