Ada Johnson turns 104 in Sidney

Family, friends help mark birthday celebration

Sidney resident Ada Johnson celebrated her 104th birthday on Sunday.

She was born and raised in Cheyenne County on a ranch about 25 miles south of Sidney with her parents and three older sisters.

"I had a delightful childhood. We had to be creative and think of our own games, we didn't have all this stuff to buy like kids do now. It's funny because my three older sisters all aspired to be teachers when we were kids and that's why one of our main games was always school and I had to be the pupil," she said.

Johnson and her family moved to Sidney when her father ran for county treasurer and won....
