Colette C. Schmitt, 88 of Sidney, passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center, Friday evening, Feb. 13, 2015.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tues., Feb. 17th with Rosary Services at 6 p.m., Monday evening, Feb. 16th. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heitoff officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Colette's name to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney or the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dalton.

Colette C. (Wolff) Schmitt was born April 16, 1926 to Leo L. Wolff and Mary Ann (Schlautman) Wolff at Westpoint, Neb. Her family then moved to Morrill in 1934, to the Lodgepole-Sunol area in 1943 and then west of Sidney. She married Larry J. Schmitt on Nov. 4, 1947 at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney, and moved west of Dalton and then north of Dalton, later moving into Dalton where they lived for 16 years before moving to a farm near Huntsman where they lived until 1991 when they moved to Sidney.

Colette was a member of the Altar Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dalton and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Dalton Garden Club, Xi Alpha Kappa Sorority and Friendly Neighbors of Sidney. She loved gardening, crocheting, baking and her grandkids.

Survivors include her (5) children: Jim (Carolyn Deaver) Schmitt of Dalton, Ed (Karen Beckmann) Schmitt of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Ann (Rod) Challburg of Sidney, Denise (Dave) Sanders of Sidney and John (Katie Bell) Schmitt Prescott Valley, Ariz. Colette was blessed with (11) grandchildren and (8) great- grandchildren; (1) sister: Mary Ann (Wayne) Lukassen of Kimball; (1) sister-in-law: Nancy Wolff of Sidney; brother in-law: Vincent (Marge) Schmitt of Sidney; sisters-in-law: Sister Terence Schmitt of Lexington, Ky., Lucille Cummisky of Worthington, OH and Clara Mae Collet of Lafayette, La.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, her brothers and sisters Clara, Paul, Leo, Sister Leonette and Odelia, brothers- in-law: Walter, Chuck, John and Francis, sister-in-law: Bertha and two granddaughters: Kendra Challburg and Heather Schmitt.
