Bingo, raffle fundraiser set to raise funds for elementary school technology

Sidney High School’s cafeteria will be transformed into a bingo hall on Thursday, March 26 to raise money for North, South and Central elementary schools. The fundraiser will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until about 7:30 p.m.

The Sidney Red Raiders’ kindergarten through fourth-grade fundraiser is hosting the bingo night that will include a silent auction, raffles, pizza, beverages and desserts. The money raised will go toward purchasing new technology, play equipment and other updates for each of the elementary schools.

“Anytime we hold an event that raises money for technology and equipment for our schools to get children physically and mentally active, it’s important for the people in town to support the cause for kids to be able to better their futures,” said Megan Andersen, this year’s event coordinator.

Local sports fans will have the opportunity to bid on Rockies, Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth (pro lacrosse team) tickets during the silent auction. Along with tickets to Coors Field and the Pepsi Center, local businesses and restaurants in Sidney donated gift cards and certificates that will be available at the fundraiser.

Andersen said that the bingo winners will receive child-oriented prizes such as bouncy balls and kids’ meals. There will also be a teacher raffle for $1 per ticket. Students are able to win “no homework passes” and “trade desks for the day” passes.

The Bingo night fundraiser has been raising money for the elementary schools for more than 10 years.
