Peetz falls to Sedgwick Co. on baseball diamond, 13-3

JULESBURG, Colo. – The Peetz High baseball team continued to wade through their tough schedule of Class 2A teams and came up on the short end of a 13-3 final to Sedgwick County on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cougars, the second-ranked team in Class 2A, advanced their record to 11-0, while Peetz slipped to 2-6 overall. Its league record remains at 1-1.

"I don't think it was as bad a game as the score showed," said Bulldogs head coach Darrin Fehringer. "You have to give them credit, they're very disciplined at the plate. They swing at very few pitches out of the strike zone and that's part of what makes them so good. I think playing teams like this will help us when we get to districts."

Freshman hurler Logan Sircy started the game and took the loss, while Brennan Ehmke picked up the win.

The 'Dogs had five hits including a pair by Bradey Holtz. Holtz also had a run scored while Cody Wilson doubled and scored twice. The Bulldogs other hits were picked up by Garrett and Brian Roelle. Peetz also picked up four stolen bases with Wilson leading the way with a pair. Holtz and Brian Roelle also swiped second.

The Bulldogs are in action again on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. when they will host Caliche – another tough Class 2A opponent. Peetz will wrap up its regular season next Tuesday when it faces league opponent Weldon Valley.
