Phyllis C. Hickey

1921 to 2013

Phyllis C. Hickey, 92, a long-time resident of Sidney, passed away on Nov. 3, 2013, after a series of illnesses. According to her wishes, her remains will now return to Sidney for final interment.

Mrs. Hickey is survived by 5 children; Michael A. Hickey, of Leesburg, Va.; Matthew M. Hickey of Portland Ore.; Joseph A. Hickey of Douglasville, Pa.; James P. Hickey of Catawissa, Pa.; and Mary P. Woerner of Swedesboro, N.J. She was predeceased by a son Albert J. Hickey of Sidney, and long-time husband, Joseph A. Hickey (1921-1983). She was also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born in Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Hickey lived in many places throughout the U.S. during her long and rich life. An avid reader and student of local and national politics, she remained intellectually active even in her late years.

One of 4 closely-knit sisters, she was predeceased by sisters; Mrs. Lois Ham formerly of Sidney, as well as Mary Ann Chenoweth, and Helen Myers, both long-time Sidney residents.

An informal Memorial remembrance will take place at graveside in Greenwood Cemetery on June 5, 2015 at approximately 1 p.m. All surviving children will be in attendance and will welcome Sidney friends and acquaintances, so motivated to attend.
