Melchiors celebrate 50 years of marriage

The children of Lyle and Judith Melchior happily announce their parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Lyle and Judith were married 50 years ago on June 19, 1965, in Annapolis, Md. at the U.S. Naval Academy. They have been blessed with 3 loving children during their marriage and 2 grandchildren. Their children are Michael, David and Katherine. David works and resides in Sidney. Katherine and her husband Ryan work and reside in San Antonio, TX with their children Skylar and Morgan.

Lyle was born in Ovid, Colo. and grew up in Sidney, where he attended St. Patrick's Academy. He enlisted in the Marines in 1962.

Judith (Judy) was born in Mount Sterling, Ky. where she attended Bourbon County H.S. Later she moved to Annapolis, Md.

Lyle and Judy met in Annapolis where Lyle was a Corporal in the Marines and Judy was employed by a finance company. They moved back to Sidney in 1966 for a short period and than went back to Annapolis. Then in 1970 through 1971, they lived in Chadron, where Lyle finished his college degree at Chadron State College. They moved back to Sidney in 1971. Lyle worked for the State of Nebraska and then worked for U.S. Postal Service starting in 1976. He retired as a Postmaster in Lodgepole in 2005. Judy worked in Sidney during those years and retired from Cabela's in 2009.

Lyle and Judy keep busy during their retired years. Lyle enjoys golfing, playing cards and hunting. Judy loves to read and garden.
