3 local students to receive degrees at UNK's summer commencement

KEARNEY, Neb. – Graduate and undergraduate degrees for 244 will be conferred at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union.

Three area students will be receiving degrees: Kaela Cole of Sidney, Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English as a Second Language; Blake Thompson of Dalton, Master’ of Arts in Music Education; and Shauna Baker of Potter, Master of Arts in Education (curriculum and instruction – transitional certification).

Marilyn Hadley, faculty emeritus, Teacher Education, will deliver the commencement address.

Hadley, Ed.D, is a native of Red Cloud. She earned her Bachelor of Science in education and Master of Arts in education from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and taught secondary social studies in Wisconsin and Nebraska. After earning her doctorate from the University of South Dakota, she spent 28 years in higher education.
