DeMolay chapter captures awards at annual Conclave

The Fort Sidney Chapter of DeMolay has had a busy summer.

While preparing for Conclave, the DeMolay Chapter had an outing in July at Lake McConaughy at the home of Randy and Tracy Miller for members and prospective members. For the fifth consecutive year, the chapter won the Ritual Competition trophy at the summer Conclave held in Grand Island.

First place winners included: Ryan Birner, Master Councilor and Examination Queries; Thomas Kokjer, Marshall; Will Castner, Orator, Chaplain and 4th Preceptor; and Drake DeMasters, 1st Preceptor, 2nd Preceptor, 5th Preceptor and Magnificent Seven, which is all Preceptor parts combined. Nick Castner and Jake Wiedeburg received the Chevalier Degree, which is the highest honor that an active DeMolay may receive.

Additionally, DeMasters was selected as Nebraska DeMolay of the Year. He is only the second member, and the youngest member, of the chapter to receive the award.

The chapter also held sponsored its annual Celebrity Dunking Booth at the Cheyenne County Fair.

Volunteering their time in the dunking booth were Cheyenne County clerk Beth Fiegenshuh, Sidney girls' basketball coach Tyler Shaw, Dan Dorwart, Cabela's human resources' Charles Baldwin, Sidney cross countyr coach Ryan Plummer, Sidney football coach Chris Koozer, Sidney Police Officer Curtis Hofrock and pharmacist Tom Birner.

Later this month, the chapter will assist with the Night of Hope Cancer Walk and attend a Colorado Rockies game.
