1927 to 2015

Dorothy N. Loebe, 87 of Sidney, passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view Dorothy's Tribute Wall and leave condolences for the family. Memorials may be given in Dorothy's name to the Cheyenne County Community Center. The services for Dorothy have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.

Dorothy Naomi Loebe, was born in Abbot's Bromley, England on Sept. 11, 1927, the daughter of Harry and Alice (Smith) Dukes. She was raised and attended school in Abbot's Bromley. She met Norbert (Butch) Loebe while he was stationed in England during WWII; they were married in England on Dec. 4, 1944. In the fall of 1946, Dorothy traveled to Sidney with her infant daughter Vera, to join her husband Butch at their new home in Sidney. Even after living 68 years in the United States, Dorothy still had a British accent, and was proud of her heritage. Dorothy worked at Newberry's Department Store, and then Memorial Hospital and Rest Home and later in life was an in home care giver. She enjoyed reading, sewing and working in the garden, she was also an avid walker and enjoyed the Silver Sneakers and stretch class at the Cheyenne County Community Center. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, and loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Vera (Terry) Jones of Kimball and Margaret Meier of Sidney; son Andrew Loebe of Laurel, Mont .; grandchildren Keith Jones and Brian Jones, Jeff Meier and Stephanie Meier and Megan Miller; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Evelyn Manners and Maisie Berrisford, daughter-in-law Arlene Loebe and 1 step-granddaughter.
