Enduring Stitches will be hosting a quilt display from Monday to Thursday of this week and next week from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11, quilts will be on display from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Quilts will also be available for purchase.

Saturday, Dec. 5

The Cheyenne County Visitors Committee will be hosting free carriage rides on Dec. 5 at Hickory Street Square from 1 to 4 p.m. Up to 10 people will be able to get on the carriage to take a tour around town. The carriage will stop at the Fort Sidney Museum where tours will be available.

Sunday, Dec. 6

The Holiday Craft Vendor Show will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the gymnasium at Cheyenne County Community College, 627 Toledo, Street, in Sidney. There will be 30-plus booths to shop at with a variety of great holiday gifts for everyone. Gift wrapping will be available. Start your holiday shopping early!

Monday, Dec. 7

American Legion Mintken-Davison Post 301 will hold a special Sons of American Legion (SAL) meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Dalton Legion Hall. The keynote speaker will be the SAL NEC Alternate and the Nebraska SAL Adjutant who has been nominated for 2016 National SAL Commander. He will speak on what the SAL program is and how an American Legion Post organizes and starts a program. All interested men whose father, grandfather and or great-grandfather was a veteran of foreign wars are invited to attend this meeting.

The Sidney Chapter of Compassionate Friends is having its Annual Candle Lighting Service on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church in Sidney. Please Join us for a time to remember our lost children who have gone before us.

Wednesday, Dec. 16

The West/North Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 12:45 p.m. at West Auditorium. This spelling bee will decide the six finalists for the County Bee. For information call Charlotte at (308) 254-4002.

Saint Patrick’s Rummage House, at 14th and King Street, will be having their Annual Christmas Giveaway on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Clothing, shoes and miscellaneous will be available. Merry Christmas!

Ella-Mae Goranson’s 24th Annual Free Christmas Dinner will be held at the First United Methodist Church, located at 2622 11th Ave. in Sidney, on Friday, Dec. 25, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Your side dish, dessert, vegetable or salad would be appreciated.
