Daniel Bashtovoi, a sixth grader at West Elementary School in Sidney, won the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee on Thursday. Bashtovoi competed against the top-six spellers from schools throughout the county. The competition was open to all students in fourth through eighth grades. He will next compete at the Midwest Spelling Bee in Omaha on March 12. A victory there would send him to the national championships in Washington, D.C.
