Chamber celebrates community, hands out awards

The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet Friday. The banquet was held at the Sidney Elks Lodge, and various awards were given to community members.

Brooke DeNovellis, outgoing chamber board chairman, passed the gavel to 2016 chairman Andrew Hurt. Hurt, a loan officer at American Bank of Sidney, said he is "looking forward to 2016 with a them of partners in progress, I envision Cheyenne County Chamber to become the host of Cheyenne County."

Along with a new chairman, the chamber also introduced new president/CEO Denise Wilkinson.

Entertainment was provided by Mark Robinson, a motivational speaker, magian and comedian. Way Out West was on hand to provide the drink service and to raise money for their organization.

DeNovellis presented the awards to the following community members:

• Individual of the Year Who Provided Outstanding Customer Service: Laurie Batterman with the Dalton Market

• New Business of the Year: Serenity Cafe

• Supporter of the Year: Jerry Steffens

• Citizen of the Year: Sidney Public Schools

• Economic Development Project of the Year: Sidney Regional Medical Center

• Business Revitalization: Sidney Feed & Supply

• Community Impact Award: Potter State Bank

• E.K. Yanney Award: Heather Hausmann

• Heroes Among Us Award: Mary Beth Tomsick

• Community Leader Award: Jason Petik

• Ralph Olsen-Board Member of the Year: Brooke DeNovollis

• Edna Anderson Award: Tim Lindeman

• Friend of Tourism Award: Ramona Joyce
