Eugene was born and raised on the family farm 15 miles north of Chappell. He was active in the Foursquare church growing up and the Assembly of God churches in Oshkosh and Chappell as an adult. He met his wife, Esther Mussey, from Sedgwick, Colo. through church and youth group activities. They married April 29, 1956, and they raised their four children on that same family farm. While raising their children they farmed together and ran an upholstery business. Eugene also did several odd jobs as needed to support the family. He worked at the sugar factory in Ovid and helped construct the Chappell elevator.

Eugene was very social and loved to visit. He had a great sense of humor and often joked with friends and family; he loved to make others smile. Eugene enjoyed reading the local newspapers and discussing current events and spent many hours reading his Bible. He liked watching game shows, religious programs, and listening to worship music. Eugene loved animals and especially had a soft spot for dogs and cats. Eugene and Esther sold the farm and moved to Chappell in 2000. Esther continued to do upholstery work part-time, and Eugene spent time helping her and keeping his lawn and garden beautiful. Esther died June 12, 2010.

Eugene is survived by his four children Ron (Debbie) of Quanah, TX; Jim (Laura) of Chappell; Steve (Karleen) of Chappell, and Jolene (Chuck) of Peetz, Colo .; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, an infant sibling, and two grandchildren.

Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell is serving the Reichman family.
