Commissioners' meeting set for Monday morning

The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners and Board of Equalization will convene for a regular meeting beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 2, inside the commissioners meeting room at the county courthouse located at 1000 10th Ave. in Sidney.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the commissioners will consider approval for a proposed independent contractor agreement with Interstate Power Services, as well as approval of a letter of support for a Chautauqua celebration.

Commissioners will also address procedures that authorize use of the county fairgrounds.

At 8:45 a.m., the commissioners will convene as the Board of Equalization to review and consider approval of a tax exemption, due to a late filing, on real and personal property by qualifying organizations for the Westside Church of Christ.

They will then reconvene as the Board of Commissioners to consider the formation of an ambulance task force and hear a presentation from Economic Development Director Tina Hochwender regarding the upcoming Nebraska Department of Economic Development Recruitment visit scheduled for mid-May.

County highway superintendent Doug Hart will then update the commissioners on road activities as well as present a resolution for them to consider allowing grading and snow removal on private access roads, and setting the cost for such services.

A public hearing to review and consider approval of the county’s one- and six-year road improvement plan will close out Monday’s regular meeting.
