Council meeting set for Tuesday

The Sidney City Council will convene for a regular meeting beginning at 7:15 p.m. this Tuesday inside the council chambers at Sidney City Hall located at 1115 13th Ave.

Public hearings and ordinance approvals for two re-zonings are on the agenda for consideration by council regarding reclassifying the Cheyenne County fairgrounds from Agricultural to R-1 Single Family Residential and an unplatted track of land north of the hospital from Agricultural to C-1 Light Commercial.

Councilors will also consider a request from the Sidney Gold Rush Days Committee to hold its 13th annual celebration at American Legion Park from June 10 to 12. Variances will also be considered, including open fires though bonfire and camp fire, the firing of blank rounds from 1800-era replica weapons and a cannon, park occupancy after the designated closure time with on-site security personnel, petting zoo, wagon rides and Sunday morning church service.

Monthly street closures for Hickory Street Square for three Fridays for the Downtown Sounds summer concert series will then be considered by council. The concerts are scheduled for June 17, July 15 and August 5.

Also on the agenda are pay requests for Street Improvement District no. 56, located at Anna Dr. and Outfitter Way, and no. 58, at Pole Creek Crossing and Fort Sidney Rd.

The council will also discuss the preliminary findings from the goal-setting retreat held during a special meeting last month, and might convene in closed session to discuss litigation before adjournment.
