Gladys J. Adams - Obituary

Gladys J. Adams, 87 of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 21 in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Gladys' name to the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, 33 N Institute Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Gladys was born Gladys Bauer in Scottsbluff, NE, on June 29, 1928.  She graduated from Sunol High School in 1946. On April 3, 1949, she married Wayne Adams at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sidney and became a homemaker living on their farm in Peetz, CO.

Gladys and her family moved to her home in Sidney in 1967. Gladys worked part-time at Gale's Appliances and Dove's Pantry as a saleswoman. She enjoyed collecting and displaying chicken decorations for her kitchen. As a young housewife, Gladys enjoyed embroidering tea towels and doing beadwork.

Survivors include her son Bob and his wife Donna of Peetz, CO and her daughter Linda Adams of Longmont, CO; two grandchildren, Matthew Adams and wife Alicia of Big Springs, NE, Jonathan Adams and his wife Ashlee of Van Meter, IA; granddaughter- in-law, Alana of Highlands Ranch, CO; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Florine Elias of Sidney, NE and numerous extended family members and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; infant children, Donald, Linda, and infant grandson Steven Adams; parents, John and Mary Bauer; grandson, Mark Adams; sisters and brothers, Edna (Bauer) Jake Betzold, Dorothy (Bauer) and husband Ray Smith, John Bauer Jr and wife Mary, Vic Bauer and wife Dorothy and Roy Bauer and wife Lora; brother-in-law, Henry Elias and numerous nieces and nephews.
