Stubble field burns

A stubble field near Scoular Grain north of Sidney was filled with tall flames Wednesday afternoon after sparks from a locomotive moving rail cars fell into dry grass. The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department quickly contained the fire before it got to grain company buildings.

Sidney Volunteer Fire Department crews knock down flames in a stubble field north of Sidney Wednesday. Approximately 45 acres of grass and stubble were burned.
