Linneman, Von Seggern, Johnson take gold

Sidney's Alex Linneman was a double event winner to help lead the Raiders to a second place finish Saturday when they hosted the Sidney Invitational at Weymouth Field.

Linneman leaped his way to the long jump title, eclipsing his closest challenger by more than a half foot, then raced to gold in the 200 meter run.

Linneman also ran in Sidney's other gold medal event, the 4x100 meter relay.

On the way to its second place team finish Sidney placed in the top 10 in all 17 Division 1 events.

On the girls side, Sidney finished fourth as a team, paced by individual first place finished by senior Kelly Von Seggern in the 100 meter run and freshman MJ Johnson, who won the pole vault.

Sidney was in the hunt for wins in a half dozen other events.

Sidney travels to the Ogallala Invitational this weekend.
