Records tumble to Raiders in Mitchell

Two Sidney athletes set new records to lead the Sidney boys and girls teams to third-place finishes at the Mitchell Invite.

Raider Alex Linneman set a meet record in the long jump. Linneman cleared the 22-foot mark three times in the finals, with his best mark of 22-feet, 6-1/4-inches establishing a new mark to shoot for.

Freshman M.J. Johnstone keeps raising the standard for future girls pole vaulters at Sidney High School, clearing the bar at 10-feet, 9-inches for the second record in as many weeks.

"We had a good day," Sidney Coach John Ganser said of the meet. Ganser was happy with Linneman going more than 22 feet in the long jump, saying his best jump is second all time at Sidney.
