Kent Fox Obituary

Kent Wimberley Fox, 76 of Lodgepole, Nebraska passed away Friday evening, June 9, 2017 at the Sidney Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday June 17, 2017 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Rev. David Abbott of the Lodgepole United Methodist Church officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to the Lodgepole Volunteer Fire Department.

Kent was born July 26, 1940 in Kearney, Nebraska to Howard and Delight (Wimberley) Fox. He attended Kearney Public Schools, graduating in 1958. After a short stint in the Navy, he returned to Kearney. Kent married Janet Hokom in January of 1962 and they would spend the next 55 years together. They made their home in Lincoln, Kearney and Wilcox, Nebraska and Salina and Olathe, Kansas, living in Olathe for 33 years. They retired to Lodgepole in 2014.

Kent was a machinist/welder by trade and was a maintenance manager in several manufacturing plants in the Kansas City area. He retired in 2002 for 2 weeks and was so bored. He would work the next 10 years for Laidlaw Bus Company in Overland Park, Kansas driving bus for special needs students and then the next 2 years for the bus company in Olathe driving bus for special needs students.

He had a passion for ham radio and was a member of the Olathe group. He looked forward to breakfast every Saturday morning at Perkins. He was a 26 years member of AA. While living in Wilcox, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and a Boy Scout Leader. Before his health declined he and Janet would enjoy taking the 1985 Ford Crown Victoria for day drives, mainly seeing the panhandle of Nebraska.

Kent is survived by his wife Janet of Lodgepole, NE; brother-in-law Gene (Virginia) Hokom of Lexington, NE; sister Greer (Steve) Good of Douglas, WY; several nieces, nephews and their families and a host of Wimberley and Fox cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Delight; his in-laws John and Dorothy Hokom and sister-in-law Carol Led.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Fox family.
