E. Jeanette Bailey - Obituary

Evelyn Jeanette Bailey, age 89 of Sidney, NE passed away at her home, Friday evening, October 27, 2017.

Cremation has been held. Memorial services and inurnment will take place at a later date. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Jeanette's care and funeral arrangements.

Jeanette was born on July 30, 1928 to Wilbur and Ruby (Carper) Glassburn in Sidney. She attended school in Sidney and graduated from Sidney High School. Jeanette married John Bailey on August 28, 1946 in Denver, CO. They celebrated seventy-one years of marriage together.

Jeanette enjoyed fishing, camping, climbing and being in the mountains. They traveled extensively visiting family and for adventure. She loved reading and learning the new technology of computers. Jeanette was an avid photographer and gardener, especially her roses. She also enjoyed bird watching and especially hummingbirds and waiting for the gold finch migration. Jeanette was Certified Red Cross Swimming Instructor and enjoyed teaching swimming lessons to the young people of Sidney.

Survivors include her husband: John; daughter: Carol Bailey of Sidney; son: Keith Bailey of Bristol, VA; (14) grandchildren; (17) great-grandchildren and (2) great-great-grandchildren.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Emiline, brother: Darrell and (2) sons: John Jr. and Steven Bailey.
