Peetz girls fall to Pawnee, Leyton

PEETZ — The Lady Bulldogs of Peetz lost to Leyton and Pawnee Thursday and Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs hosted both teams, losing to Leyton 46-19 Thursday and to Pawnee 65-29 on Friday.

The Leyton’s Warriors dominated the first quarter, scoring 20 points while keeping Peetz off of the board. Peetz led the second quarter by a 13-6 score, resulting in a 26-13 half favoring Leyton. The third quarter was an almost even match with Leyton earning four points and Peetz three. Leyton came back in the fourth to earn 16 to Peetz three. Peetz junior Sarah Davis lead the team with eight points. Freshmen Kayleigh Leek, Addyson Gipfert and Lakrisha Fehringer each earned three points.

Friday, the Lady Bulldogs returned to the court to host the Pawnee Coyotes. Pawnee dominated the game from the beginning. Peetz’ halftime score was less than Pawnee’s first quarter score. Pawnee scored 11 in the first and 16 in the second for a 27-point half. Peetz scored two points in the first quarter and seven in the second for a nine-point half.

Peetz improved in the second half, scoring 10 points in the third and fourth quarters. However, Pawnee earned 18 in the third and 20 in the fourth.

Coach Morgan Meier said the team played without two of their players Friday — Abby White with a broken nose and LaKrisha Fehringer with an illness — which contributed to their struggle.

Pawnee scoring was lead by freshman Shelby Hoffman with 28 points for the night.

Peetz then traveled to Haxtun Tuesday, entering the game with an 0-4 record while the Fightin’ Bulldogs had a 3-0 record.

Peetz then returns to the court Friday, Dec. 15, to host Prairie High School.
