Winners of the Cheyenne County Family and Community Education Essay Contest were, from left, Emily Bashtivoi, third, Ava White, second, and Champion Jayden Hodgson.
"Why Is Recycling Important?"" was the theme for the annual Cheyenne County Family and Community Education (FCE) organization's essay contest.
First place honors went to Jayden Hodgson, daughter of Jov and Chris Hodgson; second place went to Ava Witte, daughter of Tony and Jenn Witte; and third place to Emily Bashtovoi, daughter of Denis and Amy Bashotvoi.
All three students who received awards in the Creative Writing Contest are students of North Ward Elementary. Each essay was judged on neatness, spelling, and grammar.
