SHS Theater Department Production of 'Little Luncheonette Of Terror' Tonight

The food is fast and cheesy, sometimes literally, and the characters often quirky to a slapstick degree. The monster is coming and wants to take over the world.

That and more are in store for patrons of Sidney High School's production of Little Luncheonette of Terror tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

The show is a deliberate spoof of

Little Shop of Horrors. The story line includes a blend of laughter and humorous terror as Mongo the rock-eating creature from the center of the earth contacts Pete Berserker, the owner of Pete's Luncheonette. Pete's Luncheonette is the hang-out spot for the high school kids.

The creature plans to take over the world by enlisting the kids in his personal army, after he drains the brains of knowledge.

Senior Drew Reece plays the part of Dr. Judd, who spends his time analyzing the strange occurances at the diner. It is Reece's first time on stage after three years on the technical side of production.

"It is my senior year so I just decided to go ahead and do it," he says.

Senior Tessa Siler plays the main character's mother whom she describes as obnoxious and overbearing. She says it is fun working with high school students she doesn't always spend a lot of time with.

This is her second year in theater.

Destiny Backer has been in music for six years and is the lead female role in the production.

"It is a lot of fun," she said.

Fun is a consistent theme as that is also what drew senior Jon Smith to the cast. Smith plays a street thug who calls himself "King," known for doing young Rocky Balboa-type collections, harassing Pete for protection money.

Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, and $7 for adults. Friday and Saturday's performances will be 7 p.m. at the Sidney High School. On Sunday, a chili dog and chili cheese fry with a root beer float will be available for an additional $5.
