Sidney senior Jake Burke launches a drive in recent tournament action.

Sidney's Red Raider Golf team competed at the Tiger Invite in Hastings on Thursday placing fifth against tough competition from the areas best high school golf teams. Sidney's top four golfers shot a 332 as a team, led by senior Jake Burke's round of 78.

Connor Dormann shot an 82, Cole Westfall shot an 83 and Jackson Witt shot an 89 combining with Burke's 78 for the team's total score. Cayden Jobman shot a 100, but was not included in the team score as only the top four scores are used to determine the team's overall rankings.

Against tough competition, Sidney was able to have three of its' five golfers finish in the top 20 out of the 50 golfers the competed.

Sidney golf coach Jeff Yahn commented on the team's performance, saying "The Hastings Meet always has some of the top Class A schools in the field, but I was a little dissapointed with our team score yesterday. Everybody had a good warm up session and I was expecting to see better results."

He was very pleased with Jake Burke's round saying, "Jake had a great round. He struggled a little on the front nine with a 41, but grinded on the back nine to shoot a 37. This week he limited his mistakes to just two double bogeys."
