    Local Marines celebrated the 241 birthday of the Marines, with an annual Marine Ball in Sidney last weekend. More than 50 Marines and their significant others attended the ball this year.   • Sidney PD receives medication destruction bin through grant

    The Sidney Police Department received a medication disposal bin through a grant from CVS pharmacy which arrived last week. Twice a year, the police department holds a medication destruction event where citizens can bring in their expired or unused prescriptions to the department to be disposed of correctly. Cheif Aikens said "this bin gives citizens an opportunity to bring in their expired or unused prescriptions year round instead of having to wait until we hold the next destruction event."...

    On Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. Cheyenne County Deputies responded to an accident north of Sidney on Highway 385. Sidney resident Samantha Buttle was turning left on highway 30 when she was struck by a United States' Airforce humvee heading north on high way 385 driven by Kele Kaminski from Sultan, Washington.     November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. There are multiple types of diabetes people can have which include, type one, type two and gestational diabetes. Keith Jones, a former Sidney resident who now lives in Kimball was diagnosed with diabetes type one when he was five years old. His mother originally got him tested because he was excessively thirsty and hungry all the time and used the restroom more than usual.     City Council held its last meeting for October on Tuesday. Eddie Trower, Charter Communications Government Affairs, answered questions regarding Charter’s service within Sidney.     With a little more than 60 days until Christmas, Cheyenne County Toys for Tots will be distributing its donation boxes and fliers throughout Cheyenne County this week.     During the latest City Council meeting, a nuisance ordinance was approved. The approved ordinance was introduced by City Manager Ed Sadler based on an existing ordinance in Webster City, Iowa.
