    January 2 Markers Brought Back to Life Near the center of Sidney is Legion Park. Within Legion Park is a memorial that started with the inspiration of a Vietnam veteran. To the south of the veterans memorial is a half-circle of plaques recognizing conflicts that have claimed the lives of soldiers. It is a quick history from the Indian Wars to the Iraq War. January: Sidney Lady Raiders Win Cabela's Holiday Shootout-January 2nd Sidney's Lady Raider basketball team defeats Burns, Wyo., and Beatrice to take the 2019 Holiday Shootout Title.     Sidney's Red Raider Wrestling team faced some tough competition at the Sidney/Bridgeport Invite on Saturday Dec. 21 in Bridgeport, and with a total of 151 points earned fifth place in a field of 16 teams. Gering dominated the scoring with 231 points to earn top honors, followed by Ogallala with 180.5 and Bridgeport with 174.5.     A Cheyenne, Wyo., woman and a Gillette, Wyo., man were arrested Dec. 14 in the 3000 block of Silverberg Drive after police responded to a report of a theft. Sidney Police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at Walmart, 3001 Silverberg Drive, at about 11:40 a.m. Dec. 14. According to the arrest affidavit, dispatch reported a female was involved and had left the store and was in a Dodge Ram pickup truck.     The Cheyenne County Fair Board met Monday, Dec. 16. The agenda included scheduling events for the 2020 fair, and funding for the fair. The 2020 fair is scheduled for July 19-25 with the Open Horse Show opening the week.
