    The management team at Cabela’s retail store in Sidney had gathered for a video conference last week. Every store in the chain was connected, hoping to learn which one had earned the coveted Store of the Year Award. But there was a problem. The monitor in Sidney’s conference room had gone blank at the most inopportune time.     Sidney's schools will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 5 and will not be in session on Thursday and Friday. The closure allows students, faculty and staff to support the Red Raiders basketball team in this year's state tournament in Lincoln. Sidney opens tournament play at 9 a.m. Central Time on Thursday at the Pinnacle Sports Arena. Sidney's Cool Kids Club will be open both Thursday and Friday in order to serve students.... Full story

    The Bulldogs saw their season come to an abrupt end in the third-place game of the 1A District 4 playoffs with a 73-60 loss to the Briggsdale Falcons on Saturday morning at Sterling High School.
