    Plains West CASA is hosting its first “Superhero Run and Villain Chase (fun run). The event will be held Saturday, starting from the Shelter House at Legion Park.   • NDOT Outlines Road Work Projects

    Work has resumed the Phase 2 project on US-385 through Dalton, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Simon Contractors Inc., of Cheyenne, Wyoming, has the $2.6 million contract. Work will include concrete construction, earthwork grading, pavement markings, and sodding. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers and lane closures during daytime hours as needed.     A Sidney nurse has started a memorial fund after her friend and co-worker lost a family member in a tragic accident this week. Joni Peters, a nurse at Sidney Regional Medical Center started the fund after the death of 25 year old Tyson Herrera on a Wyoming highway.     LINCOLN – The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has earned an $11.85 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish a research center focused on understanding and addressing drug addiction in the rural Midwest.     Doyle “Red” Van Cleave passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. Red was born in Laramie WY on June 17, 1944 and grew up in Sidney NE, graduating from Sidney High School in 1963. Red had a successful career for over 40 years as a locomotive engineer for BNSF and Union Pacific railroad. Red’s most treasured hobby was fishing.
