    The kindergartners of Central Elementary took a field trip to local businesses and public services including: the post office, American National Bank, Cheyenne County Treasurer's Office, Sheriff's Department, Katie Haas' State Farm office and the 911 call center.   • Timmens gets probation in fire truck theft

    A 26-year-old Sidney man was sentenced in Cheyenne County District Court on Tuesday morning for stealing a U.S. Forest Service fire truck last September and driving it from Chadron to Sidney. As part of a plea agreement, Aaron Timmens pleaded guilty last month to a single count of theft by unlawful taking, a Class IV felony.   • Kimball second-grader wins 'Our Little Miss' pageant

    Ashlynn Kuhns, a 7-year-old from Kimball, recently won the "Our Little Miss" title at the preliminary competition in Cheyenne, Wyo. She was also awarded with the "living doll" award. According to her step-mother Dakota Robbins, Nebraska doesn't offer an "Our Little Miss" pageant. Several of Ashlynn's relatives residen in Sidney.     Two local high school students have been selected as winners of the Cheyenne County Lawyers’ Association scholarships. Each award is for $500. MacKenzie Bowker, a senior at Sidney High School, and Jake Johnson, a senior at Potter-Dix High School were named the recipeints.   • Dormann leads Sidney golfers to title at Cozad

    Led by freshman Connor Dormann, the Sidney High School golf team won its first meet of the season on Tuesday at the Cozad Invitational. Dormann earned top medalist honors after he fired his best competitive round of the year with a 78 at the Cozad Country Club. In addition, the Red Raiders had three other medalists including Nate Dvorak (84), Brady Radcliffe (87) and Jake Burke (88).
