    A local family is facing both blessings and hardships this holiday season, as they put the pieces back together following a devastating fire to their home. Tammy Vowers said she was home asleep when the fire that consumed their home started Monday night. "I really don't know what happened. I was asleep, my son was studying for finals.     Cheyenne County Commissioners will be holding a hearing to decide if Common mullein should be added as a noxious weed in Cheyenne County. Common mullein (Verbascim thapsus) is a non-native species that occurs throughout most of North America.     The Selective Service System (Draft Board) in the Fleming, Colorado area was close to being aggressive in late 1944 and into 1945. Maurice J. Schaeffer turned eighteen in March 1944. Before the year was out he was drafted. The Draft Board allowed him to complete high school but they would need his service in January 1945. Maurice passed the physical examination and headed to a small training facility named Camp Fannin, Texas. Although school won't be in session, Sidney's boys and girls basketball teams, as well as the Raider wrestlers, will be in action next week.
