    As the work on 10th Ave. continues, new sections of the street will open while other sections will close. On Monday, Aug. 11, the intersection of Linden St. and 10th Ave. will re-open to traffic. Additional sections of 10th Ave. between Linden and Maple streets will re-open to traffic later next week.   • Donate blood locally next week

    Donors who want their blood to stay local should donate at the Regional West blood drive on Aug. 14. This drive, coordinated by the Cheyenne County Ladies Chamber will take place at the Cheyenne County Community Center from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Regional West is only able to hold these drives during limited hours. “They’re a small center and the ladies that do the actual drawing of the blood have to go back and work the blood so they can’t change their hours,” said Diane Scott, Ladies Chamber blood drive coordinator.     The local Kiwanis club awarded $500 scholarships to two recent Sidney graduates. The winners are Amber Arellano (right), who attends Tabor College in Kansas and Jaide Wachtel, who attends University of Wyoming in Laramie.     It happened a long time ago. There were nearly 100 kids attending the Adventist Junior Camp at Broken Arrow Ranch, located on the shores of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, near Manhattan, Kansas. They defeated Runza in the semi-final game and then won two straight games against Rod's Welding to capture the tournament championship.
