    Visits to Cheyenne County are showing numbers on both sides of the line. They are down, but they're also going up. A Nebraska Tourism Commission press release dated Aug. 30 says tourism in Nebraska is going up. The report offers numbers including February, March and May setting all-time high records.     Early morning on Thursday, Aug. 30, law enforcement obtained a search warrant to search the residence of Jarred Neuhalfen, 26, at 3080 County Road 83, Potter. Law enforcement attempted to enter the residence, but Neuhalfen refused entry. His wife left the residence. Neuhalfen remained inside and refused to leave.   • Council Approves Oktoberfest Parade Application

    The Sidney City Council recently approved an application for the Oktoberfest Parade. The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 6. The route this year is on Illinois Street from Nineteenth to Seventh Streets. The parade is held in conjunction with the Oktoberfest celebration and marching band celebration.   • Text Alerts Now Offered for Endangered Missing Advisories

    LINCOLN — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) has developed a new way for the public to receive Endangered Missing Advisories (EMA) directly from NSP. The public can now receive the alerts via text message. “When we launched the EMA system several months ago, we had thousands of people sign up to receive alerts via email directly from NSP,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “But we also heard from citizens that many would prefer text message alerts instead.
