    A city planning commission meeting Monday night was marked by frustration, confusion and lengthy discussion in an attempt to understand and work toward solving issues with a tract of land currently occupied by a sand and gravel pit. Representatives of the Kielian Family Trust owns the ground in question. The gravel pit is located east of Sidney one half mile south of the intersection of Roads 20 and 117.   • County approves budget measures

    The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners met on Monday morning. The Board approved the budget for 2013-2014 as well as three other items from the public hearing. For the two budget years (2012-2013 and 2013-2014), the two cemeteries will receive $3,300 each and all three historical societies will be given $1,000. The Jail Medical Agreement between Cheyenne County and the Sidney Regional Medical Center was smoothed over from the last meeting and will be effective starting October 1.   • Campbell's 84 leads Sidney to second place at Gering

    Led by Jessica Campbell's lowest round of the season, the Red Raiders golf team was the runner-up finisher in the Gering Invite at the picturesque Monument Shadows Golf Course on Tuesday. Scottsbluff, which placed four golfers in the top eight and three in the top four, was the runnaway winner with a 326 total. Sidney came in at 360.   • Potter-Dix loses 3-1 to Burns

    The Potter-Dix Coyotes volleyball team's record fell to 1-5 after dropping a 3-1 decision in four close sets to Burns, Wyo. (5-1-1) Tuesday night. After winning the first set 25-21, the Coyotes dropped the final three in painful fashion. Despite having the Burns Broncs down in sets two and three, Potter-Dix fell short 26-24, 25-23 and 25-20.
