  • Woolery now faces 6 sexual assault charges

    Prosecutors have charged Joshua Woolery, 26, of Sidney, with six felony charges relating to the alleged sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 12 and 16. A County Court judge bound the case over to District Court on Monday, ruling it appeared the offenses were committed and that there was probable cause to believe Woolery committed them.     The seventh- and eighth-graders at Sidney Middle School kicked off Red Ribbon Week with a special guest speaker, Judge Derek Weimer, on Monday afternoon. Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign, this year it's recognized from Oct. 23-31.     Four Sidney High School students have been selected to the All-State Choir to perform a concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln.     Trick-or-treating will come a day early to celebrate the third annual Trunk or Treat night at Hickory Street Square in downtown Sidney. According to Kim Phillips, a coordinator for the event, there are 28 businesses and organizations that have registered to pass out goodies this year.
