Levoine E. Bowker, 93, of Sidney, passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 21, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Bradley Heinecke officiating. Military Graveside Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday, from 1 to 7 p.m.

Levoine Eri Bowker, the son of Nile Eri and Ethel Louisa (Pennell) Bowker, was born on June 27, 1919, at Nutty Comb Township, Cheyenne County, Kan. On July 9, 1938, Levoine was united in marriage to Marjorie Berneice Samson at St. Francis, Kan. He served in the United States Navy from Jan. 12, 1944, until receiving his Honorable Discharge on Jan. 5, 1946. Levoine received the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. During his working years he was employed with the City of Sidney Power Plant, Kokjer Motors, the Sioux Army Depot and completed his Civil Service career in Babbitt, Nev., where he retired. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1986 and back to Sidney in 1997.

Levoine was a loyal member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the V.F.W., was a rock hound and made beautiful rock jewelry. He enjoyed yard work and loved fishing and canoeing with his son and grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Mary Bowker of Sidney; four grandchildren, Yavette Prater and husband Rick of Sidney, Tonya Neemann and husband Joey of Dalton, Tim Bowker and wife Susan of Sidney and Tom Bowker and wife Jody of Terra Haute, Ind .; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Levoine was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie Berneice in April of 2012; two sons, infant Dallas Levoine Bowker and Lee Everette Bowker; and one sister, Dortha Elmria.
