SHS students finish in top 25 percent at state scholastic contest

Sidney finished first as a team in their division at the Chadron State Scholastic Contest on Friday, April 5, with 20 participants earning top 25 percent placements.

The 2013 Scholastic Contest is a proud and honored tradition at Chadron State College. For the 53rd year, the Scholastic Contest recognized the academic achievement and talents of high school students from throughout Nebraska and the surrounding states. A student’s selection to participate in the contest is an indication of his or her academic talent, achievement and dedication.

The following students placed in the top 25 percent: Ryan Birner – 1st in Plane Geometry and 6th in Physical Education Sports Knowledge; Gunner Coffey – 1st in Business Law; Kylie Ellwanger – 6th in Literature; Kelsey Franklin – 11th in Literature; Lauren Gull – 17th in English Usage; Alex Hehnke – 18th in Algebra 1; Brendan Holly – 4th in Information Literacy; Taylor Kaus – 1st in American Government and 5th in Chemistry; Sarah Krueger – 5th in Veterinary Sciences; Karson Langley – 4th in Business Law and 11th in General Anatomy & Physiology; Hayden Lienemann – 8th in General Biology and 8th in Algebra 2; Madison Malzahn – 4th in Veterinary Sciences; Jennifer Myers – 5th in Agronomy & Rangeland Management; Megan Neal – 4th in General Science; Cody Rowley – 1st in Simulated News Reporting; Jacob Schaub – 13th in Algebra 1; Tanner Stark – 2nd in Business Math; Logan Uhlir – 2nd in General Science and 6th in Plane Geometry; Madison Verhulst – 1st in Music; Darby Young – 6th in Simulated News Reporting and 12th in American Government.
