Peetz sinks Pirates, 50-20

The Peetz Bulldogs got off to a fast start to the 2013 season by knocking off the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates 50-20 in six-man football Friday night.

Sophomore Logan Vach earned player of the game honors with a 127-yard rushing effort on just seven carries. He also scored four touchdowns. Jordan Nelson with 66-rushing yards and Garrett Roelle with 54 yards also figured prominently in the Bulldogs offensive attack. Nelson and Roelle added a touchdown apiece.

"Hugo had some decent size but with only eight on their roster they have obvious depth problems," said Peetz Head Coach Scott Sorensen. "Our guys did a good job of controlling the game from the start."

Freshman Tre Lewis also had a big game as he completed a 34-yard pass to Casey Barrett. On defense, Lewis recovered three fumbles in addition to leading the team with 10 tackles. He also had an impact on special teams with a 30-yard kickoff return.

Other standouts on defense were Wolfgang Wenneker and Cody Wilson each with eight tackles. Vach added five. On special teams Bradey Holtz tallied more than 70 yards on three punt returns. As quarterback he also ran the offense.

The Bulldogs will host North Park next Saturday in a 1 p.m. matinee.
