Bulldogs ground Briggsdale in straight sets

The Peetz Bulldogs volleyball team upped its record to 6-5 overall and 3-1 at home with a straight set victory over the visiting Briggsdale Falcons (4-4) on Saturday.

On homecoming weekend, the Bulldogs dispensed with Briggsdale in this district match 25-6, 25-19 and 25-13. The win advances the Bulldogs record to 5-1 in the district.

Mikenna Curlee (14) and Morgan Burns (10) were a strong tandem at the net with a combined 24 kills. Melissa Schumacher provided consistency from the service line as Peetz scored 14 points in her 18 serve attempts. Jessica Uhl, Mallori Bjerke, Curlee and Whitney Christian made no service errors.

Libero Caitlynn Peetz was the team leader in digs with 23 while Schumacher added 13 more. Jodie Schumacher had eight digs, Christian six and Bjerke six. Setter's Uhl and Jodie Schumacher were good for 18 and 12 assists respectively.

The Bulldogs are at Caliche on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. start.
