Sidney runners take first, second at conference meet

Alli Ehler and Jachob Wiedeburg of the Sidney Red Raiders led the girls and boys teams to first and second respectively in the Western Conference Cross Country Meet at Oregon Trail Park in Gering on Monday.

Ehler and Wiedeburg both finished second individually. Ehler came in at 21:33 while Wiedeburg's 18:18 earned him a silver. Both teams ran over a 5k course

All six Red Raider girls finished in the top 11. Ehler was followed by Madisen Stafford (21:44) in fourth, Genessa Schilz (22:29), in seventh Abby Heller (22:54) in ninth, Erin Lindeman (22:58) in 10th and Mia Hernandez (23.18) in 11th.

Including Wiedeburg's second-place finish the boys placed three runners in the top 10. They were Hayden Lienemann (18.27) in fifth and Brody McKnight (18:28) in seventh. Freshman Will Castner (19:22), Jacob Schaub (20:06) and Ryan Birner (20:23) also aided the Raiders to to their runner-up finish.
