Potter-Dix tops Garden County, falls to Wallace in triangular

The Coyotes split a triangular with Wallace and Garden County on Monday night. Their mark for the season keeps pace at 7-12. Potter-Dix is 2-2 in district play.

In the opener, Wallace challenged the Coyotes' back line, testing left, right and middle on the serve. Kinley Vowers responded by receiving 19 serves, while Dawson Sharman and Regyn Hicks initiated 17 and 16 volleys, respectively.

Potter-Dix was active digging out kill attempts, as well. Sharman and Regyn Hicks shared much of the duty, with Alexus Rozelle filling in the gaps.

In the first set, the Coyotes emerged on top, 25-16, behind the net play of Rozelle, Regyn Hicks and Morgan Wolff--set up consistently by Ryley Hicks. The combination brought Potter-Dix within striking distance in the second before Wallace eventually pulled ahead 25-19.

The third belonged to the visitors, as Wallace cleared the Coyotes 25-15.

If there was a bright spot in the loss, it was the return of outstanding setter Taylor Juelfs to the line up. Seeing limited action, she contributed 6 assists.

Potter-Dix dominated the nightcap, knocking off Garden County 25-18 and 25-5, riding strong performances from the line by Sharman and Ryley Hicks.

Sharman put on an outstanding show, at the net and in the back. She notched 5 kills, 9 service points and 7 digs. Meanwhile Regyn Hicks dominated defensively at the net and Vowers anchored the back line.

Potter-Dix will spend the rest of the week preparing for Saturday's conference tournament.
