Sidney sixth, Petik in medal position after first day

Golfers battered by wind, rain in opening round of state competition

While the weather took the headlines at the Class A and C state golf tournaments yesterday, the players took center stage in Class B.

Despite 29 mile per hour winds, with gusts up to 36 and nearly a half an inch of rain, 70 players from around Nebraska completed the first day of the Class B State Golf Championships at Holmes Golf Course in Lincoln.

Six players from Sidney made the trip to including one alternate.
