Anne Smith, 92 of Sidney, passed peacefully into the Lord's hands at 9:53 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. She did so in the presence of her son Bob Smith, daughter Carole Tobler, and grandson Scott Tobler.

Cremation has been held, a memorial and graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anne's name to SRMC Extended care.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Anne's care and funeral arrangements.

Anne had been a resident of Sidney for 67 years, moving here shortly after the end of WWII with her loving husband Ervin Smith. She was a loving wife to her husband and mother to her family.

She was preceded in death by her paternal father, John Nistor, step-father, Zack Tifrea, mother, Mary Tifrea, brother, John Nistor, and her husband Ervin (Smitty) Smith.

Anne was born Jan. 8, 1921 in East Chicago, Ind. She grew up in Aurora, Ill. with her two brothers Vic and John Nistor, two sisters Mary Koske, Voichita (Keets) Ogden, two half -sisters Nelly Smith and Elaine Johnson, and one half- brother Ervin Tifrea. During WWII she was introduced to her husband Ervin by her brother Johnny and they married June 10, 1944.

She is survived by her son Bob Smith and wife Diana of Lawton, Okla., her daughter Carole Tobler and husband Rod of Sidney. She had six grandchildren, Scott Tobler and wife Cora of Sidney, Derek Smith and wife Rachel of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Marine Lcpl Kevin Tobler and wife Jennie of camp LeJune, N.C., Air Force Lt. Col. Damon Scarborough and wife Lori of Oakland, Calif., Daron Scarborough of Grass Valley, Calif., Denise Scarborough and husband Corey Hayes of Lawton, Okla. She had six great- grandchildren, Michael Tobler, Shane and Ella Smith, Kenyen and Khalil Hayes, and Will Scarborough, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and volunteered in the church rummage house. A member of the Sidney VFW Auxillary and currently resided at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care.
