Donation made to Head Start program

Recently Head Start was forced to cut back from full to half days. The program caters to three, four and five year olds from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Due to money being tight, director Patsy Yager does not always receive the supplies she requests. But individuals and circumstances sometimes come to the rescue. Eileen Nightingale reads to the kids every Monday, and drives the book mobile there every other week. "Literacy is one of our main focuses," Yager said. Since Nightingale is so active in the Head Start program, she and the Junior Friends of the Library decided to have a bake sale to raise money to buy and donate classroom supplies after learning about the cut back. The bake sale raised $95, and Nightingale took the Junior Friends shopping to pick out items to donate. The items included Play-Doh supplies, stickers, paper towels, pencils, cotton balls, etc. The donation was presented to Yager on Tuesday evening.
